Meet @michelle.england.

Michelle first picked up a camera as a way to document her children throughout their formative years, and evolved her craft into a creative business where she captures artistic documentary style portraits for women, families, and couples.

She shares her story on Bold Company today, and it was one of the best conversations ever.

As a working photographer, Michelle acknowledges the pressure to always be sharing content, feeling the need to prove your worth and talent, and how being creative and running a business often don’t go hand in hand. But, Michelle has remained steadfast in her resolve to always prioritize her creative vision and artistic self-care. And it’s truly inspiring.

In one of my favourite interviews to date, Michelle shares honest truths about creativity and business, artistic self-care, and integrity as an artist. This conversation will inspire creatives across all genres to honour their artistic vision, tune into what feels right and good to them as artists, and to seek out that elusive balance between creative and business.

Five years ago today, I walked out of the doors of my day job for the last time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I had no idea what I doing, what I was going to do, or what the future held. Only that I would make it as an entrepreneur, no matter what.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I was done with trying to fit into a life that made me feel like I was wearing someone else's pants.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I was totally over feeling my soul slowly being crushed day after day, as I sat in traffic on a commute to a job that I hated.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I clearly remember walking into the office and feeling this heavy weight, and a profound sense of being in the wrong life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My path to entrepreneurship wasn't smooth, pretty, or paved in gold. It was long, winding, with lots of forks in the road, incorrect signage, and getting lost.

But slowly, I found my way. And today, I'm sharing that story with you on Bold Company.

This Wednesday on Bold Company, I'm going solo to share a huge anniversary with you - exactly 5 years to the day that I left my day job, and decided to make it as an entrepreneur - come hell or high water.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My last job - a toxic, horrible experience - was the push I needed to break free from the convention of a "stable" job.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I didn't leave "properly", with a savings to lean back on or even a plan. But I left with determination and a commitment to do whatever I could to "make it."
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It wasn't a perfect story of simply building my dream - in fact, it took nearly a year just to figure out what my dream actually was.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But it was an education, and it led me to this beautiful place where I am today. I couldn't be more grateful.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can't wait to share my story with you, and my advice for those who want to leave their day jobs too. Will you be tuning in?

A fresh look, new demos, more visuals, and updated content.

I am SO excited to bring you SSS 2.0 in just 5 weeks. 🎉🎉

Buuuut that means I have 5 weeks to complete a full update on a 45 lesson course - no small feat. So if I'm a bit more quiet some days, that's why.

Because actually doing the work is more important than looking like you're doing the work. Right?
